Important Information on Classes

Are classes open to the public?

We have classes in several local daycares for your convenience, but if your child does not attend one of these daycares or you would like to join our evening classes, we have that option as well! We currently have classes open to the public at 2425 S. Shirley Ave, Suite 106:

How long are classes?

Platinum Dance Rising Stars and Hip Hop classes are 45 minutes long, Platinum Dance Tiny Stars classes are 30 minutes long. Our school year session runs from August – June (with a few breaks such as Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring break).

I just heard about your awesome classes, Is it too late to join?

We have open enrollment throughout the year, so it is never too late to join a class! You can join or leave as needed for your life!

What is your enrollment fee? What does it cover?

We have a once-a-year enrollment fee of $35+tax ($37.38) that is due at the time of enrollment. For siblings, this enrollment fee is $20+tax ($21.30). Everyone is charged a registration fee each year. This fee covers our usage of our online monthly payment system, supplies used in class and a reserved spot for your child in our class. This fee is non-refundable and is required of all students each year.

Tell me about the monthly tuition?

Monthly tuition is $55+tax, so $58.58. When you enroll in our classes, your tuition is due on the 1st of the month. If you choose to enroll in our free Auto Pay feature, your credit card will automatically be charged tuition on the 1st of each month. If you do not use Auto Pay, you will need to login online and make a manual payment. If you need to send cash or check, please contact us.

What happens if we join mid-month?

Your tuition will be prorated accordingly.

What if my child is sick/gone from class? Do I get a refund for classes missed?

Although we understand sickness and vacations happen, we do not provide refunds or prorated tuition for absences. Your child is welcome to come to one of our public classes to make up the time if you’d like, just notify us that you’ll be coming so we know to expect you.

What happens if we can’t continue dance this month?

Please contact our office 2 weeks before the 1st of the month if you wish to discontinue classes for that month so that you are not charged. Our staff schedule is based on our enrollment numbers, so we need to plan accordingly for any changes.

What should my dancer wear to class?

Dance clothing is not required for Platinum Dance classes, we want your child to be comfortable and be able to move! Dance attire such as Leotards, tights, and skirts are welcomed! For the safety of your child, pink ballet slippers are preferred for Tiny Stars and Rising Stars. For Hip Hop/Jazz tennis shoes or black slip on jazz shoes are preferred. Please inform your school teacher if your dancer needs to change clothes before the start of their Platinum Dance class.

Do you have dance recitals?

We have dance recitals in December and June. Although these are optional, we encourage all of our dancers to participate as it is a fun and special day for them to be STARS! These recitals are held at off-site locations. Each class performs in one of the 30-minute recitals held throughout the day. Information about recital will be sent home via email, newsletters and flyers throughout the year.

How much is the costume fee and when is it due?

Costume Fees are charged prior to the recital date in both fall and spring. Information will be sent via email and company newsletter. If you choose for your child to not participate in either recital, you must contact our office to let us know that you are not purchasing a costume.

What other fees are associated with Recitals?

We have NO other fees associated with our recital. We do not charge an additional recital fee nor do we sell tickets. You may bring as many people as you would like to watch your dancer on stage!

We do have flowers and other merchandise available at recital for you to purchase for your dancer. Pre-order forms will be sent home a few weeks before recital for your convenience!

Do we rent the costume?

Costumes are purchased and are therefore yours to own! We do not ask for costumes back after the recital. These make fun dress-up costumes or even Halloween costumes!

How do we discontinue class?

If you need to stop classes at any time, please contact our office by phone or email. Per our cancellation policy: A written cancellation notice must be received by our office email two (2) weeks prior to your student’s last day of classes.

A lack of class attendance or communication is not an assumption of cancellation, nor will Platinum Dance assume to stop Auto Payments for you. Platinum Dance must receive written notice of a student discontinuing classes and/or of a stop Auto Payment request. No refunds will be issued for any customers that do not follow this procedure. It is the customer's responsibility to stop Auto Payments or communicate to stop Auto Payments.

Do you offer any other services beside dance classes?

We offer several fun dance camps throughout the summer. We will send more information home regarding our camps throughout the year. We would LOVE to see your dancer there! Camps are open to the public, so feel free to invite your friends!

We also have specialty Birthday Party packages that include dancing and a guest appearance by your child’s favorite princess! Check it out on the website!

Are your dance classes only for girls?

Absolutely not! Dance is a gender-neutral activity, and our classes are adapted for all ages, abilities, and genders in our classes! Dance skills include building strength, coordination, agility, building strong muscles and bones, teamwork, mental strength and patience, confidence, boosting self-esteem, relieving stress and anxiety, becoming leaders, building self-expression and creativity, and so much more! None of those traits are specific to one gender or another, so our classes are gender-neutral for all ages so everyone can have fun and learn to love music and movement!

What age should my child start classes?

Children can start our classes as young as 18 months! Most dancers begin their training between ages 3-5 years old, because they’re potty-trained and more confident being away from their parents, but we do not require students to be potty-trained. Our classes focus on more than just dance skills as we focus on age-appropriate development, motor skills, flexibility, independence, communication/listening, confidence, rhythm, memory, and so much more! Learning does not begin at a certain age or at the same age for everyone, so we adjust our classes to our student’s needs and abilities. But if your child is older and wants to start dancing, it is NEVER too late to start dancing or to learn new skills! Earlier classes are not a prerequisite to our classes, so children can join at any time!
